We are a group of volunteers and community representatives who work to increase awareness of Fair Trade in Caerphilly and maintain Caerphilly's status as a Fair Trade Town.
We meet up once a month in Costa Coffee to plan activities such as holding stalls at local events.
The group is open to anyone who would like to come along. If you are interested please click here to see the date of the next meeting.
What is Fair Trade?
Many of the products that we buy in supermarkets are grown by people who are not paid properly for their work, and as a result who have to live in poverty.
Fairly traded products are different.
Fair Trade guarantees:
A fair price to producers in developing countries
A 'living wage' for these producers
No child slave labour
Safe working conditions
Protection for the environment
Rights for women
Extra money for community development
